Impatience, Impatience.

I wish the following things would hurry up and get here already:

-School
I know it's weird for a college student to wish for the life of academia to be back when it's still Summer vacation. But I'm a weird college student. I mainly just need to be surrounded by the people of the theatre department again, I need my classes to be chalked full of lessons that I actually care about again, and most importantly, I seriously need to act again. I need to get back to a real life. Not work, play, sleep, repeat. I don't do well with that for very long. I'm the type of person that needs to feel useful and important and busy. Most of the time at work I feel crabby and unappreciated and jipped by customers. Also, sleeping until 1 or 2 pm every day is a great way to make yourself feel like a slob. For a couple of weeks, awesome. For a couple of months, ew.

-Fall
Those that know me already know that I cannot stand Summer weather. I'm talking old fashion, 95 degree heat Summers. I hated those. I hate to be hot. It turns me into a bickering mad woman. Then, along comes THIS SUMMER. I put that in all caps to let you know I'm yelling it. Not out loud or anything, I'm not crazy, geez. Internet yelling. Anyways, this Summer has been horrifying and infuriating. And I'm not even a farmer. Those guys must really be mad. It's just awful outside and I'm starting to forget what grey sky and cool wind and leaves that are alive look and feel like. I need my favorite season to arrive. I need to roll down the windows of my car and sing pretty songs as it starts to sprinkle rain. I need that, that's my therapy.

I don't want it to seem that my Summer has been awful, it hasn't. It's brought about some lovely things. (Didn't you read my last post, Nobody?) But I must admit that it's starting to wear me down. Or sweat me out. Whichever comes first. I need a fresh breath of energy and zest. I feel like a kid counting down the days until Christmas (which I totally still do, by the way).

That's all, Nobody. Now go run along and play with your friends.

(insert "awww" here)

Anniversary story time.

So, Tyler gave me his mother's beautiful ring. A ring that says (to me, at least) I hope you think of me every day, just look down. A ring that says I love you, and I'm not going anywhere any time soon. Promise ring isn't the correct term, though that's what we've deemed it, but really it's just a reminder ring. A reminder that I'm with somebody that loves me. A pretty gold rose reminder that somebody loves me and I them.

Also, he did his usual Tyler Waits romantic whimsy filled Tyler stuff. A dozen roses leading to him sitting with one for me in a full on suit, handkerchief included. (Me, being the sweet girl that I am said "You watch too many old movies, sir"). We had a very tasty sushi lunch. (Yes, I made him change into regular clothes...in case you were wondering).

Then he went to rehearsal and I thought...okay...shit. Now i have about three hours to put together something wonderful for him.

Side note: I am not at all a very romantic person when it comes to special occasions. I was raised on the system of trying to find a really perfect gift and writing a really nice, long card. But, no big hoopla or production ever, really. I'm just not very creative in that way. But I felt that for this big occasion, I needed to think like Tyler. He deserved something as grandiose as all the many different things he's put together for me on birthdays and Valentines day, etc. So...back to the story...

I get him a few gifts and I'm driving home all pissy because I still haven't thought of some fun way to tie them all together. Then, I get an idea to put little customized silly poems on each saying why I bought them for him. And I was like...okay....but that's not enough.

Then it hit me. I was going to make a store.
(haha)

So I made a sign saying "Welcome to Kelsey's Anniversary Emporium! Come on in for great deals!" and I posted it on my front door.

Then I set up little isles (that may be the wrong spelling for that word?) to go to different departments of the store. They were these:

-Candy: His two favorite candies hanging on the wall
-Men's Apparel: A black Express v-neck because he lost his and it was his favorite shirt
-Home Decor: A custom made frame I fashioned together with a picture of us and a sweet message
-Electronics: A mp3 player because his iPod was stolen out of his car because I forgot to lock his door (I know, I suck)

Plus, all the above had the aforementioned poems on them explaining the reason for the purchase.

He seemed to really like it, and I was honestly proud of myself for not just wrapping the presents and saying "here you go!" like I normally do. This way, it was more anniversaryish.

Twas' a lovely day that I felt like sharing.

Did it make you gag? Did it make you say aw? Did you even read it? Who are you?

Hang on,

I'm going to go make a cup of coffee, I'll be right back.

Okay, I'm back.
Thanks for waiting.
Yes, I did put too much milk in my coffee, but hey. I'll deal.

It's been a festive couple of weeks, I must say.

The improv show went very well. I was super proud of myself and Heather (the fellow newbie in the performance) because I really felt we held our own amongst a group of champ improv veterans. Any time I improv, I feel like I'm getting more and more past the fear I still kind of have for it.

But yeah, that was a lot of fun. I'd love to sub in with them again!

The weekend of the fourth was very nice. Great to be with family, great to float out in the dirty lake and cautiously tan through a shield of 30 proof. (Hey, after a second degree burn, you'll be wary, too!) And that whole last sentence wasn't even sarcastic, I really do enjoy being in that dirty lake. (Assuming I'm not in it at night, not in it by myself, and not in it without a beer in my hand.)

Me and Addie finally got those tattoos we've been talking about for over two years. I know they aren't great pieces of art, and people don't really know what to say when they see them because they are just three letter words simply written in plain text on our feet. Nothing any tattoo artist would brag about or put in their books. But who gives a fuck? These tattoos (Sea-mine, Sky-hers) commemorate a time (a very important time) in our young adult lives. It represents who we were and how we grew past all that and are still here for each other. It's all very cheesy and Brady Bunch, but hey, it's ours.

Ummmm what else?

Tyler and I are coming up on our one year mark. That's exciting. And crazy. We've hit many rough patches, I've been a huge brat, he's been a slightly smaller brat, but we're still goin'. It's such a comfortable love. I don't want to gush about it or anything, but if I mentioned beer cans in the dirty lake, my amazing and understanding and loving boyfriend probablyyy deserved some kind of shout out. I guess. :)

Oh, and I'm seeing Harry Potter tonight. End of an era, y'all.

Okay, I think that's all the updates I have.

This post was much more upbeat than the previous thousand. Sorry I'm such a snark.

Man, I've been using this thing like crazy!

I've been using this thing like...like somebody is actually reading it!

Silly rabbit.

Anywho, I'm a little giddy because I found out last night that I was asked to fill in for a member of the Midolls for one of their upcoming improv shows.

Remember that post from a couple of days ago, Nobody? The one talking about my anxiety to go to that improv get together...well it looks like I did okay at it because this invitation is the fruit of that stress.

I don't know, even though I'm not that great at improvisation, it feels nice to be chosen.

Silly post, I know I know.

I keep coming back these days.

Uhhhhh, I'm so nervous and fidgety.

One of my former professors has asked me to be their guest for an improv troupe rehearsal (I guess, of sorts?) tonight.

On one hand:
I feel really lucky to be the person of all her former students to get an invite like that. I really did love her class, it was possibly my favorite class I've taken thus far in my college career. I'm sure that it'll be a fun evening filled with some improv, chatting, and (most importantly) some networking with women who are actually active and known in the Oklahoma Improv community as well as various theatres (OSP, Ghostlight, etc.) which is really amazing.

On the other hand:
I'm anything BUT an improv pro. Two semesters of it and I'd still call myself a pretty painfully novice performer most of the time. This, along with the fact that though the networking is amazing and the opportunity is a very big compliment....being the new person in a room of friends and colleagues really stresses me out. Rarely is my anxiety disorder a problem in my adult life, but I will admit that in situations like this, it really does flare up. I really hate that, because in my (hopeful) field of business you HAVE to connect with people, introduce yourself and throw your personality all over the room if you want to be remembered, and being remembered just may be what can get you cast. This is a quality I have always admired in many of my friends/classmates. Though I do pride myself in my work, who cares if I don't have the guts to actually go up and audition for something or take workshops or get coffee or blahblahblah with the people who can help me further my career?

All I do lately is complain and rant.
I'm sorry for that.

I really hope that tonight goes well. I almost always laugh at myself for all the hype I put into things like this once thing are said and done. I hope this is another instance.

But for the record, my nerves can suck it.
