Where can you buy Creative Juices?

People always talk about em'. "Got to get my creative juices flowing". Either my grocery store doesn't keep them in stock or you people are liars.

Really, though. As of late, I feel so void of anything creative. Well, I did write that play. Which I am incredibly proud of. But aside from that little spark, it's been nothing. I've been home all day just wishing that I was making art in some way, any way! (I don't think the enchilada's I made count).

I have a closet full of paints and canvas, jewelry makings, a million journals with a million pens, a bookshelf full of plays to read and add to my arsenal, a closet full of clothes and rooms full of potential. I even have a kitchen full of food! (Remember the enchilada's?)

But nothing moves me. What a lame thing to say right?
But really. I can't paint, I have enough jewelry, the journals aren't calling my name, I don't want to read, sewing has never been my thing and redecorating is something I like to do with a wallet full of money for new additions and I'm still full from the twice aforementioned enchilada's.

I just. I miss that feeling of being the full creative owner of a work of art. Y'know, the play I mentioned. Just being able to say the sentence "Yeah, this play I wrote..." made pride surge through me. The same pride a design student would have when they say "Well, let's fit this costume I custom made you...". As actors, we rarely get to claim something as fully ours. We are, essentially, professional adapters. Though people may congratulate us on a flawless performance in a Shakespeare play, we cannot say that William would agree. We can't know. It isn't ours.

Which, for the record, I'm normally just fine with. The emotional experience is more than enough for me.

But sometimes, like right now, I want to be the inventor of my own artistic vision.

I'll just go watch some more Ugly Betty.

Thanks for listening, nobody.

So.

I (with assistance from Tyler) have almost completed my first One Act Play!

This may seem like nothing for most. But I'm no playwright...so I'm quite proud.

The most challenging part of it all? It was a genre specific class assignment. I didn't just sit down and let my imagination take the reigns. I had a genre of playwrighting, a movement of theatrical history, to stick to. And a hard one at that, one that I don't even care for that much.

Expressionism.

I looked at this assignment like a bug. It was big and scary and somebody was gana' have to deal with it.

Not only did I deal with it to the best of my abilities, I'm actually pretty proud of the concept and script I worked up!

I really hope my group likes it. Even if they don't, even if the whole thing gets scrapped...I achieved something I didn't think I could do. I actually wrote a piece of theatre.

I had to brag online for a second. I chose this site because I'm pretty sure nobody reads anything I write on here. So it's bragging that I don't have to feel too douchey for! ....right?

:)
